Guitar Hero 4 Drums REVEALED!
Of course the biggest, yet most predictable move for Guitar Hero was to make the game with a full band, and a lot was speculated upon the biggest change, the drums! Now Activision has spilled the beans on their approach to the drums in Guitar Hero 4!
Guitar Hero’s Activision decided to create a whole new drum set, as opposed to making the Rock Band’s drum kit compatible with Guitar Hero. This model boasts only 3 face pads, but also 2 dedicated cymbals which are above the pads, and then the kick pedal, making a total of 6 buttons to press, as opposed to Rock Band’s 5 buttons. Activision also strives to make this drum kit quieter and sturdier than Rock Band’s drum kit. All of this change came from the inspiration of real electric drums and other arcade games that involved drum sets like konami’s “Drum Maniax” and MTV’s Drum Studio.
In my opinion this is a welcome change! I remember telling my fellow bloggers that if Activision decides to make a new set, it would look something like this because of dedicated crash and ride cymbals. Not only is there another level of difficulty (another button or pad to worry about), I’d say this is one of the closest replicas of real electronic drums that I’ve seen for a game, INCLUDING the ones that are in the arcade, and man am I excited to try this out! As a drummer myself I can’t wait! The cymbals will make it x10 better than the rockband kit!

come on people, they add a cymbal and move them up and you all go ape shit over it. if you want realism play a real drum kit! and about the cables, who the hell has trouble with cables?! I’ve NEVER had a cable tie up on me. And I don’t care what they say, activision and all those fags are just following harmonix. THEY were the first to make it into Rock Band. Did activision do that? Not until they saw harmonix’s success with it. And i know its going to be like GH3, note window the size of a hallway and cluttered with ads and shit. seriously, harmonix is better

The drums are not sold separately at the moment. If you want the drums you have to buy the full bundle. Activision will most likely sell the drum kit separately in the coming months.
