Gears of War Movie
First and foremost, I’d like to welcome our newest blogger, Heavensknight07. Thanks to him we actually have some E3 coverage. The MGH staff is glad to have him onboard.
In other news, Legendary Pictures, the production company behind big movies such as, 300, 10,000 B.C., and more recently The Dark Knight have secured the funding to start production on the film adaptation of Gears of War.
E3 Recap 2: Sony
At last year’s E3, the mainstay of the Sony conference was the Playstation 3 and the hardware encased in it. During the introduction of this year’s E3, the show focused on the Playstation history. From a historical standpoint, the Playstation series has always been one to deliver, while pushing the limits, all based on a ten-year plan. The Playstation 3’s ten-year plan is just starting up. Since last year’s conference was all about the powerhouse that is the PS3, E3 ’08 was all about the software, bringing more titles and exclusives that expand the range of genres that Sony’s PS3 covers.

E3 Recap Part 1: Microsoft Conference
So the gaming community’s “mid-summer classic,” E3, is finally over. Most gamers connected to the internet, either through their consoles or computers, have undoubtedly received some word on E3. In this three-part blog, I will be covering the biggest aspects presented at each conference. Microsoft’s conference brought a few new things to their table; first and foremost, a redesigned dashboard.
Rock Band 2 Official Tracklist Revealed
I’M B-A-C-K!!! Sorry that I haven’t been writing in a while. Andrew and I have been taking a physics crash course and I am also working two jobs so there hasn’t been much time to breath let alone write on the blog. Fortunately for you I will be posting regularly again.
The full track list for Rock Band 2 was released yesterday at E3. It is beyond awesome. Over 85 songs, all master tracks. Here is the full list. Enjoy!
First Max Payne Trailer
So finally years after it had been announced that production had started on it, the Max Payne Movie finally released a trailer of the motion picture based on the awesome PC shooter game. Mark Wahlberg stars as Max Payne and the movie looks kick-ass. Expect the movie to be released on October 17.
Rock Band Gets RHCP
So finally my wish came true. Harmonix and MTV games decided to release a couple more Red Hot Chili Pepper songs. Alongside the release also came a couple of Rush songs, which no one can complain about. The songs cost $2 a pop as usual. You can get them now on Xbox Live or wait till Thursday to get em on the Playstation Store. Here at this week’s tracks:
It’s a Wiimote! It’s Candy! It’s BOTH!
Apparently, this wiimote candy dispenser looks EXACTLY like the actually Nintendo Wiimote, but instead of a transmitter on the front, there’s an outlet for the candy to shoot out. It also instructs consumers not to aim the wiimote at the face, which is downright lulzy!
I lol’d. I want candy, bubblegum and taffy.
Happy 4th!
I hope everyone had a fun time celebrating their independence yesterday. As for gaming news, there isn’t too much today. I’m pretty sure everyone still has hangovers or are still too bloated from eating too much. There’s a quick summary of some of the more important news after the break.
The first step to Smash Bros. DS: “Smash Bros. RUMBLE”
This video is a demo of a homebrew game based off of the Super Smash Bros. series, and so far it looks like it’s shaping up pretty nicely! A young German programmer by the name of Fuzzy has lots in store for this homebrew, including wi-fi support, it seems. The video shows only solo mode, but much of it looks like Brawl and looks to show some promise in the future. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this homebrew when it comes out for more testing!
Sony Denies Downloadable PS2 Games
Yesterday a poster over at N4G forums posted a screen claiming that he got it from a friend that works at Sony London. The poster said the screenshot showed downloadable Playstation 2 games from the Playstation Store. Patrick Seybold, Director of Corporate Communications and Social Media, said the screenshot was a fake and that Sony did not have any plans to introduce downloadable PS2 games to Gamepro. Despite the public denial, the poster said that this service was to be unveiled at E3 and will be available later this summer. Only time will tell.
