Blazblue*where one cannot simply spam their way into mordor*

October 7, 2009 at 6:14 pm (Uncategorized)

As promised from my previous post I’ll cover some details on this unique 2-D fighter. This post will be more or less a review and some ingame advice for beginner players. Blazblue has the look and feel of its predecessor Guilty Gear but an emphasis on a core set of characters and a unique fighting system. The art style will definitely attract most 2-D fans while the simple fighting mechanics will be a definite plus to casual players. Blazblue may look like your cliche anime fighting game but behind that wall lies a great 2-D fighting game. Read the rest of this entry »

Hello everyone, new writer in the house. o.0

October 7, 2009 at 3:30 pm (Uncategorized)

Food FlirtzHello everyone I have been given the honor to contribute to this site by Nautilus. I guess this is where I let you guys know what I am about and what I plan to be doing here. So I’m your typical gamer in college planning to go into medicine. On my free time I either hang out with my friends, play World of Warcraft,  play games on my PS3, study for school, watch anime, or watch tv. I will be posting  whatever I feel can help anyone who comes across this site learn something about video games, video gaming, gaming culture, current video game/video game company news. Anything that I get my hands on that seems interesting I will try to share it with the masses of mindless zombies (that being you :D ). As with anything you read on the internet anything that I may post should be taken with a grain of salt as nothing isinfallible on these interwebs.

Microsoft Slashes Xbox Prices

September 4, 2008 at 10:23 am (Uncategorized)

Looks like Mircosoft is trying to aggresively take hold of as much of the gaming market as they possibly can. In a move that copies both Sony and Nintendo they have decided to lower the price of all three versions of their popular consoles. The Xbox 360 Arcade now only costs $199. That’s $50 lower than the Wii. The Xbox 360 is now $299. The most expensive version of the console, the Xbox 360 Elite, is stitting at a cool $399. As it stands right now, Microsoft’s goal seems to be taking a bite out of the casual gamer pie. With the new user interface a la Mii style, and the new Xbox Live website, Primetime, Microsoft looks to even more secure its second place behind Nintendo for this current generation of consoles.

Education and Video Games

May 27, 2008 at 7:58 am (Uncategorized) (, , , )

Today I bring you something that combines two of my favorite hobbies. I am a Junior in college who is a biology major and who also LOVES playing video games. Last July, Kaplan was contacted by Aspyr Media, the Texas-based developer that specializes in cross-developing PC games to the Mac. The two organizations worked together to come up with a new type of game, one that improves players’ skill at taking that universally dreaded college entrance requirement, the SAT test. This test SUCKS hard core those of you who’ve taken it know what I mean and those of you who haven’t will see soon enough. Excuse me for a minute while I revel in maniacal laughter: Mmmmmmuuuuaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaahhhaaaaahhhaaaahhaaa. Okay, sorry about that I’m okay now, its just that SAT’s make me have flashbacks. Scheduled to be released on the PC, Mac OSX and DS, Kaplan and Aspyr’s SAT game will resemble other edutainment software already available, like Brain Age and Ubisoft’s My Coach series. “We saw a lot of success with games like Brain Age and realized that there is this huge, huge audience and there are voids throughout that audience,” Aspyr VP for Publishing Ted Staloch said. But just because the game is about tests doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable. The team at Aspyr says they’re focusing on making the game a piece of entertainment. “The game is going to be an amazingly fun game so the audience can be as big as Brain Age,” Staloch said. “It’s that science or that art of knowing what is the timing and the pace and what is acceptable for us to consider it to be fun or enjoyable or satisfying. We’re really trying to grab that first and bring in the expertise after,” Staloch said. SAT prep is just the tip of the iceberg for Aspyr and Kaplan; both companies are looking to use their new relationship to further develop software for helping people get more fun out of studying for their test-taking.

Your Game Guru,

May 21, 2008 at 6:51 pm (Announcement, Nintendo DS, Uncategorized) (, , )

Ohhhh boy, my girlfriend has been waiting for news like this for a loooooong time!

Dragon Quest IV has released it’s official website and not much is told on the site about the game… except it’s release date! DQIV is due to be on shelves on September 16th, but along with this website are links to two other Dragon Quest games that are hinted to come soon. This website shows that the US will be graced with Dragon Quests IV, V and VI, and the latter two have pending release dates. I know someone who’s gonna LOVE this!
